Sharing Session Mary Dhang #2: Project Management
Hi peeps!
This month, I and Ms.
Dhang has discussed the related projects that will be carried out this
semester. Our meetings have been held twice, which are on September 22 and 27.
Okay, I'll explain what we have discussed.
Tuesday, September 22, 2020
Before we start
discussing the project, I present my previously assignment, Short-Term Goals. I
simply explained my plan from now to the next two years later. The plan I made
includes school and community goals.
After that, we discussed the project. Ms Dhang explained that the project that suits with me is how to manage an event or idea into an organized and planned process. This project is called 'Project Management'. Ms Dhang provided material on this topic to make it easy to plan future projects. Project management is a structured process or planning to guide a team to achieve project goals so that the project can run smoothly according to the set time and the expectations that have been analyzed.
- Project definition: determination of ideas, segmentation (target ideas), creating an organizational structure and needs
- Project planning: each member's responsibility, scheduling, action stages
- Project Implementation: start to implement, monitoring, modification, closure and evaluation
Ms
Dhang divided the project management tool into 2 parts, namely Golden Circle
and Design Thinking. Honestly in this part I'm a little overwhelmed because it
takes analytical skills, and a high crisis
Tool 1 (Golden Circle) is simply an innovative concept in defining an idea which put forward by Simon Sinek. The golden circle consists of three parts: Why, How, What. I interpreted them as follows: Why is the motivation of an idea, an idea usually comes from an anxiety. How is how this mission can be realized. What is the product top solution to the problem that answers Why. The following is an illustration.
Tool
2 (Design Thinking) is a structured method with related patterns in order to
achieve a solution to a problem. The key elements of design thingking are
people centered, highly creative, hands on, and iterative. Five steps of design
thinking include:
After discussing the
material, Ms Dhang gave me the opportunity to look for project ideas that I
wanted and would be discussed at the next meeting. Project ideas were analyzed
according to tool 1 and tool 2.

I have identified 3 project ideas, namely a Webinar on Communication in the World of Work, a Podcast on Self-Improvement and a Platform on Literacy in Aquaculture Journals. At the second meeting, I explained to her about the Why, How and What of each idea. Initially. Ms Dhang asked me to provide three ideas which one of them would be chosen later. However, after the discussion we had, all three ideas will be carried out. The three projects are reduced to just two topic ideas because the webinar and podcast ideas can be combined into a single plot. Moreover, the suggested topics are related to one another. The following are the results of our discussion:
In short, the first
project idea (Importance of Effective Communications) will be carried out from
September-October and the second one (Awareness Campaign about Aquaculture)
will be carried out in November-January.
The
first topic will be planned with three media, they are podcasts, webinar and Facebook group. The essence of this topic is the Webinar as the final output. Podcasts
containing self-improvement talks serve as a guide media. Podcast will have a
theme related to the communication theme at the Webinar. So, the topic of
communication that is raised from each podcast is self-development related to.
The Facebook group was created as a medium to engage people for streaming podcasts and anything
related to self-improvement. In addition, members can discuss in the group about the topics.
The
next step, I will complete the target audience (demographics, psychographics,
geographic, behaviour), timeline, target date of launch, resource needed, and outlines for
the first topic. Yes, this stage is still in project definition. For the next
meeting, the second stage will be carried out, namely project planning.
Most
likely, this idea is not being implemented at present due to unfavorable
conditions. So, this project will become a "prototype" that is ready
to be implemented at any time. Ms Dhang also said that the aim of this project
is that I can apply the theory of Project Management.
